2016 Monthly Photo Project || September

September has come and gone and another blog post is in the books. This month was pretty fantastic for many reasons–two birthday celebrations, a family trip to visit my brother and his fiance in New York, and a fabulous first month of school. So much happy all wrapped up in one whirlwind of a month! Photo #1 Title: Mono Lake Turning 34 was less traumatic than I thought it would be. It’s not about getting older, necessarily, but about not being where I thought I would be at this age. However, I’m in a much better place now than I was a year ago, and for that I am supremely grateful. To celebrate my birthday, S took me on a getaway to Mono Lake. Our first weekend trip was lovely and I can’t wait until the next one. 🙂 Photo #2 Title: 15 Years My family and I were in New York on the 15th anniversary of September 11. I’ve seen photos of the Tribute in Light, but it is such an incredible experience seeing it in person. This photo …

2016 Monthly Photo Project || August

I am two days late posting for August. I have no good excuse other than I am too busy all of the time, even for photo editing! August was pretty great photography wise. I was finally able to get out and shoot the Milky Way! So exciting! Also, I turned 34 today. Lots of mixed feelings about it, but I had a great day filled with love and happiness. Many changes happened during year 33, hopefully there will be more positive ones in year 34. Fingers crossed. Photo #1 Title: Loon Lake My first Milky Way shot! With a shooting star! Photo #2 Title: S and the Milky Way If you’re connected with me through FB or IG, you’ve seen this image. It is probably my all time favorite. Photo #3 Title: Lake Camanche Loon Lake was so fun, we headed out to Lake Camanche the weekend after for more Milky Way madness. You can see the light pollution much more clearly here. 2016 Monthly Photo Project || July

Hey guys and gals! As most of you may know, I just got back from Iceland! I’ve been slowly working my way through the 1000+ images I took over there and culling and choosing my favorites. It is a daunting task. So daunting, I have not been dealing with it. Hah! In between that and prepping for the new school year, I’m about ready to go on another vacation. 😛 As for this month’s photo favorites, there is only one. I’ll be doing a series of Iceland blog posts once I hunker down and get my images processed. Wish me luck! ❤ Photo #1 Title: Horsing Around This is how I felt while in Iceland. Happy and full of glee! 😀

2016 Monthly Photo Project || April

Everything happens for a reason. No, I don’t think so. I’ve never believed in this. I’m not against it–it just doesn’t hold much weight with me. Lately I’ve been hearing it quite a bit, and I nod and smile politely in response, but I don’t believe everything happens for a reason. Especially when things happen and I don’t understand the lesson I’m supposed to learn. If everything happens for a reason, then why don’t I get it? Why am I left completely confused by it all? These emotional punches in the gut knock the wind out of me. Time heals, but I don’t know that I’ll ever fully understand. And that’s a tough pill to swallow. My mind continues to search for answers, even when it knows there are none. I guess I’m more of a “shit happens and then you die” kind of a girl. But then sometimes things happen and I wonder if I’m wrong. You know, like when all your life you’ve dreamed of seeing dolphins in the wild, then suddenly the universe puts you in …

2016 Monthly Photo Project || March

Photography is my therapy. It is the only thing that can completely consume me and ward off any wayward thoughts. It usually makes me happy, unless I screw something up like accidentally flinging my wireless remote over a barbed wire fence, or inadvertently over-tightening a tripod knob so that I can’t unscrew it for the life of me. Or when I learn I have to send my camera in for service because Nikon likes to annoy me by selling me faulty cameras. But really, other than that, photography is pretty fun. 😉 Photo #1 Title:  Blue Hour Bridge El Niño brought us much needed rain this winter. The Sacramento River swelled up and even flooded in some parts. Here is a shot of the Tower Bridge. Check out how high the water level is (was). Photo #2 Title:  El Dorado Twilight Sometimes you just have to pull over on the side of the highway to take a few shots. Photo #3 Title:  Sutro Baths This image took some patience. Too many people were there on …

2016 Monthly Photo Project || February

Here is my month in review: Photo #1 Title: Valentine’s Day Last month my father brought me get-well-soon roses and this month he surprised me with Valentine’s Day roses. He also brought Bailey a stuffed turtle so he wouldn’t feel left out. 😀 Photo #2 Title: Garrapata Beach (Color) Photo #3 Title: Garrapata Beach (Monochrome) Photo #4: Title: Cheesecake Brownies My colleagues challenged me to make the ultimate cheesecake brownie. This was the second batch. There has since been a third batch. Photo #5: Title: Pasta a la Patty My brother and his girlfriend brought me back this beautiful pasta from Monterey. It was delicious tossed with olive oil, crispy pancetta, caramelized onions, loads of fresh garlic, and topped with a farm fresh egg yolk. Photo #6 Title: Diggin’ In I love carbs. ❤

2015 12-Month Photo Project || December

Another completed photo project for the books! Although I was debating on whether to continue, I know it’s best that I do, otherwise I’ll fall into a photography funk and then write blog posts to complain about it. 😛 The month of December flew by, of course, and with it came a much needed two week break from work. It also included a much needed creative outlet in the form of a one-day photography workshop in Marin and San Francisco. Aperture Academy did a great job and the instructors were fantastic. It was a perfect way to end my year. Before I sign off, I want to thank all of you for your love and support this past year. It is what keeps me going! Also, I must send a special shout out to my blogging buddies–I love this community and have formed so many friendships as a result of my little spot here on WordPress. You’re all amazing people and I’m a better person for having you in my life! See you all in 2016!! Much love, …
